In July 2023, Butcher Bird Studios rebranded their production company through the direction of Emily Kerrigan, aiming for a vibe of confidence, imaginative, and unconventional.

I was hired by Darkred Studios to handle the motion design and animation of the titular bird. They wanted the bird to feel alive and intriguing- so I first quickly storyboarded different sequences for the logo animation to ensure it fit their brand guidelines. I then rigged the bird’s vector assets within After Effects and animated the bird along with the logo’s typography to create the main logo animation. I also created modular animations of the bird to be used in the AB transition, lower-thirds, and any other broadcast package elements that needed the mystique that the iconic bird offers. These simple animations are versatile and subtle enough to show off the brand without distraction.
