TED-Ed Educational Explainers
In 2018, I released four different TED-Ed videos while working at Augenblick Studios. These lesson videos covered the topics constipation, tuberculosis, a math paradox, and the integumentary system. I was tasked to not only create all of the visual assets for each of the lessons, but also finalize the design for each specific video, making sure that the style would be palatable for the topic at hand.
After designing the visual language, I storyboarded the animatic according to the lesson audio so that the visuals would be easily understood- enough to easily teach any adult or child. I then used Adobe Animate to animate every shot, once again focusing on the clarity of the motion. I then used Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere for compositing and sound design for the final, delivered video lesson.
I loved using a mix of character animation and motion graphics within these explainer videos as it creates a liveliness and imaginative take and also an accessible and easy-to-understand format that portrays information clearly. The end result is 7+ million views on YouTube for the four videos collectively, demonstrating the power of education through TED-Ed.
